Elk Island National Park
Established in 1913, Elk Island National Park is located in northern Alberta – just east of Sherwood Park and the Edmonton metropolitan area. Spanning across the Yellowhead Highway, Elk Island covers 194 square kilometres.
Drawing over 220,000 annual visitors, this island of conservation preserves land and wildlife – including bison. Elk Island is always open, and features hiking, kayaking, and golfing, plus winter activities like cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
