Plan your next visit to Alberta and be sure to spend a day exploring the always fun and always impressive Royal Tyrrell Museum. Found northwest of downtown Drumheller within the Midland Provincial Park, the Royal Tyrrell Museum is the premier paleontology museum of Alberta.
Opened in 1985, the Royal Tyrrell Museum features a fossil collection of more than 130,000. Operated by Alberta's Ministry of Culture, the Royal Tyrrell Museum is named in honor of geologist Joseph Burr Tyrrell who, in 1884, discovered the first dinosaur fossil in Red Deer River Valley.
