Big City Alberta – Edmonton & Calgary
Explore Both Edmonton & Calgary on Your Next Visit
Plan your next vacation for Edmonton or Calgary
But, they do share a lot in common – a wealth of historic sites and attractions, plenty of outdoor fun during all seasons, and local charms sure to help you feel like your visit into Alberta was an authentic and pleasant one.
During your fall visit into Edmonton, head for Rexall Place, home ice of the Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Oil Kings – of the NHL and WHL, respectively. Canada is known for hockey prowess and the sport certainly is popular.
Both Edmonton and Calgary feature excellent skiing and snowboarding areas, ideal for your next winter visit to Alberta. You'll hit the slopes at the Lake Louise Ski Area, not far outside of Calgary and a very short drive from Banff. In Edmonton, Head for the Sunridge Ski Area, a short drive from nearby Stony Plain.
A popular destination for spring and summer visitors to Edmonton is the Edmonton River Valley Park. While not exactly as famous as NYC's Central Park, the Edmonton River Valley Park is 22 times larger, with nearly 150 kilometers of trails for hiking, walking, cycling, and even playgrounds for the little ones.
Explore downtown Calgary and check out the Calgary Tower. 191 meters from top to bottom, the Calgary Tower is an ideal spot for 360 degree views of the entire city. Drive in from nearby cities like Olds or Strathmore and have a very unique experience.
You'll find your share of intriguing festivals between the two cites, as well. In Calgary you can check out a wide variety of independent and up-coming films at the Calgary International Film Festival.
The list of exciting and fun things to see and do between Calgary and Edmonton is a long one – you'll want to clear some time on your visit to experience as much as you can.
